Well the ECPRA season is well under way. The season kicked off with the Larry’s Off Road Nationals on June 25th.In the Pro Stock finals Tay Woykowski prevailed over Jason Poynter in a close one. Gene Collier took the win in Pro Mod. The next race was the annual Drag Nite party and race. This time mother nature won the final round actually after the 1st qualifying session. The next race was a new one on the ECPRA schedule at Mason Dixon Dragway in Boonesboro, MD. The turnnout was huge thanks to the tireless promotion by Scott Pocaro with over 69 drag cars. In another close race, Ollie Fry took the Pro Stock win over Jason Poynter. Tim Vinkuns took the win in Pro Mod after Stephen Hawes could not answer the call in the finals.
We are going to start calling Jason a bridesmaid for his two runner up finishes. Jason gets the last laugh because he is your ECPRA Pro Stock Points Leader!! Gene Collier still leads the Pro Mod Points.
So the ECPRA season is about to come to a close with the upcoming Germanaire Drag Day and Social at Orangeburg Dragway in Neeses, SC.
The points have been updated and posted.
The points leaders heading into the final event are Gene Collier in Pro Mod and Damon Harmon in Pro Stock. Gene appears to have the Pro Mod Championship wrapped up but Rookie of the year Alex Curry is pushing Damon hard in Pro Stock.
The race is Saturday November 12th with the championship presentation immediately following the race. Come out and see the fastest VW’s on the East Coast!!!
The ECPRA 2016 season has been filled with excitement and surprises. There are some familiar names at the top of the points along with a few surprises. It’s hard to believe but the 2015 ECPRA Season finale is coming up at the GermanAire Drag Day and Social – Saturday, Nov. 14th. Scott Sain has been a supporter of the ECPRA for many years and hosts the ECPRA Pro Mod and Pro Stock classes at both of his excellent events every year since the very first one. They are must attend events every racing season.
The ECPRA Points Leader for Pro Stock and Pro Mod is the same person, Damon Harmon from Texas. It appears no one will catch him in Pro Stock, but there is a slim chance for second place Pro Mod racer Gene Collier from Ohio. The battle will continue at Orangeburg Drag Strip on Nov. 14th!!
The Labor Day Bash is coming up this weekend. Gates open at 5pm on Friday, Sept. 4th with one night time qualifying pass for ECPRA Pro Mod and Pro Stock racers with the final two qualifying passes on Saturday, Sept. 5th.
